A History Of Lip gloss.

A History Of Lip gloss.

When: 1932
Who: Max Factor
Where: USA

Max Factor wanted to create a lip product that would make lips shiny and glossy for films and movies, It was Max Factors job to create make up for the movies and the stars that made films back when it was in black and white, Women were inspired by the movie actresses and they also wanted to make up that they wore.

The very first commercially available lip gloss was launched in 1932 it was called X-Rated and it was made by none other than Max Factor. The original formula was sold until 2003 when the current owners Procter and Gamble decided to retire the product. (Heres hoping they will release it again soon, maybe as a limited edition).

Then in 1973, Bonne Bell introduced the first flavoured lip gloss, Lip Smackers. Lip smackers were and still are popular among teenagers. (I remember using these in high school, they were all the rage.) Lip smackers use to come in two sizes small and big, The small one could easily fit into a pocket or a pencil case easy for usage at school. While the bigger size hung on a rope around the users neck, The advertisement encouraged teen girls to choose the appropriate lip smacker for a date as that would be her dates first taste of when his lips kissed her.

Vanity Isn't A Sin Review:

I will always be honest with my blogs and reviews. If I do not like a product I will let it be known and while I have written a few reviews now and all of them have been positive, this will be my first negative review.

I tried the Mirenesse iCurl secret Weapon 24hr Mascara. I did not pay for this as it came free with a magazine.

I will start with the positive thing that I do like about this mascara it does what it says it will do, so  it does curl your eyelashes but if you are looking for a thickening, volumising or lengthening mascara this one is not for you.

It also flaked a lot and fell into my eyes and as a contact wearer I can not have this happen as I wear contacts to see not for a cosmetic reason, it also smudged underneath my eyes a bit and I had not put mascara on my bottom lashes.

It was also very weird to remove, I always simply use water and some baby shampoo to remove my eye make up as oily make up removers can place a film over my eyes and my contacts will not work. When it was coming off my eyelashes it wasn't normal how a non waterproof mascara usually is when it was removes it was similar to eyelash glue when you are removing your flash lashes but it was back. But that being said it was an easy mascara to remove.

The applicator has very very fine bristles and the wand is curved to achieve the curled lashes look. It does have a strong smell to me it smells a bit like plastic.

I would not purchase this product as it did not work for me, but that doesn't mean that I would put off buying a different Mirenesse's mascaras in the future.

Please note: That what doesn't work for me doesn't mean that it will not work for you.

Vanity Is Not A Sin Review:
What can I say about these lip glosses, I was a bit weary at first when I realised they were a plumping lip gloss, a minority of women do want full, pouty lips but so many are put off by the stinging and burning sensation that plumping lip glosses can cause, I am most certainly one of them, many times I have been unable to bear the burn from plumping lip glosses and have had to remove the product after a few minutes with no results at all other than red lips and smeared lip gloss after trying to get it off in a hurry with tears in my eyes from the burning sensation.

So you can see why I was a big hesitant to try these lip glosses, but to my pleasant surprise and much delight when I applied this product with hesitation I found that there was no burning stinging sensation on my lips at all, I was over delighted that I have found a lip gloss that does in deed plump the lips with no burning sensation, it is a little difficult to describe the sensation it definitely doesn't sting or burn but it does make your lips feel like they are becoming fuller and upon looking into the mirror to inspect my lips, they are a little fuller while you definitely won't be walking around looking like you just got collagen injections(trust me that's a good thing) you will have a slightly more pouty lips.

This lip gloss also has a long staying power it wont fade or disappear after a short period of time. They also have a lovely and pleasant scent, I would describe it to be very delicate and not over powering at all, you don't notice the scent once it is on your lips.

The colours are beautiful, you can put on a single coat for just a hint of colour or put on a little bit more for the true pop of colour. There is 10 gorgeous shades to choose from. I have two, I have "#3, L.A Nude and #4 Lust Me". I did not purchase these products at full price #4 Lust Me I brought a magazine and the lip gloss came with it (but really I just brought the magazine for the lip gloss) and #3 I received with my monthly Glossy box.

The product comes in a traditional lip gloss tube and they come with an Flexilip applicator, the product is the perfect size to pop into your every day handbag or your evening purse, the tube doesn't take up much space at all. You also get a lot of product with the tube sizing being 14gs. The products is a little on the pricey side at $39.95 but on the Mirenesse website at the time of writing this article and it being published they are offering 20% off their Mirenesse 3D Forever Lip gloss, So if you are looking for a plumping lip gloss with out the sting and the burning sensation than this lip gloss is most certain worth its price. I highly recommend it.
